Our Goats
We are thrilled to be able to share our goats with you. We strive for excellent dairy lines and exceptional personalities.
In 2013, we started our adventure with a grade nigerian, Black Betty. Although unregistered and horned, her personality was beyond compare. She would look up into your face and just want to breathe you in. Her milk was sweet and pure.
She went on to be freshened twice while in our care. Her first freshening was with twins: 1 doe and 1 buck. Sadly the buck was still born. The doe, Sadie May Be Shady was retained. She is the quintessential brat.
For Betty's second freshening, we used the same buck. This time she had triplets. 2 bucks and 1 doe.
In spite of our love for Black Betty and Sadie. . . we realized that to an extent, others would want registered quality caprines. We were forced to make a decision. We put Betty and Sadie up for sale.
I priced them as high as possible hoping that no one would want them. After a long time had past, a kind young man called me. He said that he and his family had a rural homestead and he had been admiring Betty and Sadie. Others had an interest, but only to the lineage of Betty, and her lack of it turned them away. I wanted someone who would love Betty and Sadie for who they were. After a long discussion, I realized that this young man would love Betty and Sadie the way I did. And so, they went on to live with him and his family.
A year passed, with no goats to snuggle. Finally after scouring ads, websites, and word of mouth. . . I found Willow, Athena, Shady and Cricket. They came to us already bred. They themselves, have excellent bloodlines along with their proposed offspring. This is how our goat story begins.

Since Shady Maple Acres was already taken as a HERD NAME with ADGA. . . we chose MAPLE HIGHLANDS as our HERD NAME. . . all future babies will have this name as the beginning of their registered name.
